Arty Party

I've never really fancied my kids as artistic but, they have surprised me lately. Evan picked up a pen the other day and drew circles! I never knew he could do that. Then, today he asked to play with the crayons and to my delight he didn't just line them up and put them in and out of the box. He was really into and named every color and thought it was so funny to make such a great picture. He would have colored for an hour if it weren't for the "help" of baby Avery! Here is the video to give you an idea of how art time went...

Poor Evan, just wants to color in peace. And, poor Avery, she just wants to play with the same things that Evan likes. I think I might have to place them at the kitchen table for art time from now on. Oh yeah, did I mention that Avery also took a bite of a crayon and attempted to color on the wall...she really keeps me on my toes.

Speaking of little Avery, she has begun to climb EVERYTHING! She can get on the futon all by herself, though she hasn't mastered getting down yet. She is super clever and understands so much that sometimes she shocks me! I can say "Avery go to the pantry and get a snack" and she will go pick out what she wants and bring it to me. If I say "lunch" or "dinner" she will pick up a bib and attempt to climb into her highchair. Here is a funny video of her getting her food on the table and trying to get it back...notice the pull up at the end.

I know this blog is already a little video heavy, but I can't help but put this one on too. Avery loves to dress up. I already posted that she loves hats, but she also loves shoes! She brings them to me all day to put on her feet. And, if I don't do it quick enough, she will begin chewing on the shoes...how is that for motivation. :) She found Evan's shoes so I helped her put them on and...

I can't end this blog without telling more funny Evan stories. Age 2 is proving to be my favorite for him. He says the funniest things and is a huge goofball! He is a little fish in the pool and I wish I could take pictures of his face as we head to the "special pool" for his swim lessons! You have never seen such a huge smile! Once he gets in the pool, he just wants to "swim with daddy". He has become a huge daddy's boy lately and only wants dad to read him his favorite book, Christmas Time Is Here. When Aaron says "Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas" Evan cracks up. I love it! Another one of his favorite parts of the book is the flap that shows a boy going down a hill on a toboggan. For the last few days he has been trying to turn everything into a slide and pretend he is going down on a toboggan (which he says with perfect clarity).
