So it finally happened...Evan has moved into his big boy bed. He has been in it for exactly 13 minutes and has yet to get out (as far as we know). We are really wishing we had a baby monitor with a video camera right now! But, we left the door open and he has yet to come out to visit us, so we are considering this a success...for now.
We aren't quite sure where his depth perception is, or if he thinks falling is fun, but we spent a good part of the afternoon trying to catch him as he stepped right off the edge of the bed. Here is a video of one of the unfortunate times I was unable to catch him (because of the camera) thank heavens he was fine and jumped right up and tried again.
But, alas, he is a very quick learner and we were able to teach him how to get down safely. We just hope he utilizes this in the dark...EEK! It does help though that we have a big bulster pillow that we made while Grandma Coleman was in town and we are hoping this will stop him from rolling out in the middle of the night. It might even stop him from stepping off the edge! We have also put the bumpers back in to make the bed a little more comfy and to save his little melon from bumps like this:
